CREATIVE MORNINGS | Glimmer: The art of nurturing hope in our darkest hours

In an overstimulating world, our nervous system is constantly trained to notice triggers – danger, urgency, comparison – more easily than tenderness, beauty or rest. In this talk, Serena explores Koorsoo as a daily practice: learning to spot tiny glimmers of hope in cinema, photography, video and in the smallest details of ordinary life. Through stories, images and simple somatic and mindfulness tools, the audience will be invited to gently re-educate their gaze: from hypervigilance and overwhelm to a more grounded way of being present, where small things become anchors of meaning, connection and quiet joy.

Serena Malaspina is a sociologist, somatic coach and content creator, and the founder and host of Essere Serena, a mental health and wellbeing podcast and community with over 350,000 listens. Through deep, long-form conversations with experts, storytelling, online content and live events, she helps people navigate emotional healing, everyday anxiety and life transitions with practical tools, nervous system education and a deep focus on authenticity and compassion.

CreativeMornings is a free monthly breakfast lecture series designed for creative communities. In 2008, Tina Roth-Eisenberg founded the lecture series in Brooklyn, New York as an ongoing, accessible event for New York's creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

Lecturers include professional creators, designers, photographers and illustrators. CreativeMornings hosts events in 207 cities worldwide in 65 countries. Their events are run by approximately 1,500 volunteer organizers.
