Collaborative Learning · Weekly Demos · Strong Foundations

This guided studio course builds essential skills step by step through a structured, repeatable process. Each four-week session explores the foundational elements of painting and drawing — composition, value, color, and expressive mark-making — with weekly demonstrations, group exercises, and plenty of hands-on studio time.

Students will work in the subject, style, and medium of their choice, from realism to abstraction, while developing a solid creative process that leads to strong starts and confident finishes.

Each month follows a progressive sequence:

Week 1: Drawing, design, and composition studies
Week 2: Value development, image transfers, and block-ins
Week 3: Color theory, palette choices, and expressive application
Week 4: Painting, refinement, and integration

This collaborative class is ideal for beginners seeking a strong foundation, as well as returning students who want to continue skill-building in a supportive group setting. Students who feel ready for more independence may also choose to work in an individual study format on Saturdays.
