Creative Get-Together for Quieter Young People
About this Event
Saltash Creative Get-Together for Quieter Young People
Tuesday 25 August 2026, 2pm–4pm
Saltash Studios, 24 Fore Street, Saltash, PL12 6JL
For ages 13–17 | Free | 10 places
A free, relaxed creative afternoon for quieter young people aged 13–17.
This get-together is for young people who are introverted, shy or highly sensitive, experience social anxiety, or simply prefer quieter, lower-pressure ways of being around other people.
Sometimes being around new people feels easier when there’s something to do at the same time. So there’ll be creative activities around the room that you can explore at your own pace, without having to arrive and immediately think of something to say.
You might chat while you’re creating, work quietly alongside other people, or mostly focus on whatever you’re doing.
Creative activities
#ReframeQuiet poster making
Explore quiet strengths through artwork. You can create your own poster, with colouring sheets available if you’d prefer an easier creative starting point.
HushFest song lyric art
Listen to the HushFest Song and use it as inspiration for something creative.
Textiles and beginner crochet
Explore wool and beginner crochet patterns, with materials, instructions and examples available to help you get started.
There’ll also be Quiet Connections activities around the room, including colouring sheets, word searches and writing paper.
Everything is optional. You can try all three activities, choose just one, bring your own creative project, or simply have a drink and spend some time alongside other quieter young people.
There’s no particular way you need to join in.
What to expect
We’re keeping the get-together small, with up to 10 places.
When you arrive, there’ll be time to get a drink, choose somewhere to sit and settle in before deciding what you’d like to do.
There won’t be an icebreaker or a point where everybody has to introduce themselves to the whole group. Chatting is welcome, but not expected.
Ellie from Quiet Connections will be there to welcome everyone and join in with the afternoon too.
All the essential creative materials will be provided, along with free tea and coffee. We’ll also have a set of headphones and an MP3 player for the HushFest Song, or you can use your own phone and headphones. A QR code will be available to access the song.
You’re welcome to bring your own art, craft or writing project, extra materials, or your own snacks and drinks if you prefer.
A parent or carer is welcome to contact Ellie beforehand if there’s anything they’d like to ask.
