About this Event
Love nature and the arts? Have a 4 - 14 year old you’re looking to connect with?
Rick's Place is excited to introduce Creative Expression with PeaceLove, a transformative program designed to nurture self-care, introspection, and peace of mind through the arts and nature for children and their parents.
This month's innovative workshop is called The Story Boots, and will focus on the concept of perspective. Participants will dive into the topic with a hands-on arts & crafts project where we’ll use retired combat boots as the canvas to write out how people from similar walks of life can have unique experiences. In the Story Boots experience, we will be exploring each person’s story and the idea that our journeys are similar even though each person walks down a different path. This session will take place outdoors on the serene Rick’s Place property, encouraging nature to fuel your creative juices.
Date: October 12th
Time: 10am - 11:30am
This session is suitable for children aged 4 - 14. Parents or trusted adults must be present with the child for the duration of the session. Participants must be able to write to be a part of this program. Adults will create alongside the children, working together in the activity to encourage connection and deepen the emotional bond between parent and child.
The program emphasizes that everyone is creative, and participants do not need any prior experience to enjoy the program. All the needed supplies will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own retired combat boots for the project if they choose. Snacks and drinks will be available for each participant.
Come and explore the beauty of the arts in a serene outdoor setting, fostering creativity and mindfulness among children. This program is a perfect blend of nature, art, and personal growth, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.
This program is free of charge to service members and their families. Registration opens for each session 2 weeks before that session’s start date.
You will be asked for proof of Military Affiliation at check-in for this program. Have your Military ID available. If you have any questions about what qualifies as proof of affiliation, please reach out to the team at Rick’s Place.
Each participant is required to register for this program, with 1 ticket needed per individual. The start and end times are prompt, so make sure you’re on time so you can soak up all the fun!
