Creative Crumbs: Animation Workshop for 10–13 Year Olds

A fun, hands-on 5-hour stop-motion workshop where kids turn crazy ideas, doodles and sketches into their very own stop motion animation
About this Event

Meighan and Christina are teaming up again for another fun-filled animation session, bringing over 20 years of experience in animation, film and TV.

This is a day for silly ideas, big imaginations and plenty of “what if?” moments. Your child will explore

• model making,
• create their very own character and story from scratch
• and learn the basics of stop-motion animation

By the end of the day, each child will have made their own mini-movie — complete with a wonderfully weird character — ready to take home and share.

Workshop Details

We’ll meet at 10:00am at Hackney Downs Studios reception before heading up to the studio.

There will be short breaks throughout the day, with a longer lunch break at around 12:30pm, so please bring a packed lunch.

By 3:00pm, it’s showtime! We’ll watch all the mini-movies together and celebrate everyone’s creations, before hreading to reception and meet the parents again.

Devices

We’ll be using tablets and phones to animate with the free Stop Motion Studio app.

If your child has access to a device with the app installed, please bring it along. This also means they can continue animating at home afterwards.

If not, no problem at all — we’ll provide everything they need.

Photography & Filming

During the workshop, we may take photos and short videos to capture the children’s creations and share highlights from the day. Please let us know if you give us your consent. There’s also an opt-out option on the form once you register.

Meet Your Workshop Leaders

Christina is an illustrator and animator with over 20 years of experience, including work as an animator at Aardman and on feature films and television.

Meighan is an illustrator, animator and textile artist who creates imaginative costumes, characters and fabric toys.

Together, they bring a playful, hands-on approach to model making, storytelling and stop-motion animation.

We can’t wait to animate with your child and help turn their ideas into something wonderfully fun.
