The Speakeasy is the perfect spot to enjoy the sweet sounds of jazz & swing. Swing dancing has always been associated with the era of the speakeasies where they also danced Tango & Charleston. Hundreds of styles of swing dancing were developed; those that have survived beyond that era include Charleston, Balboa, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, and Collegiate Shag. Today, the best-known of these dances is the Lindy Hop, which originated in Harlem in the early 1930s. Social dancing happening 7 - 10 p.m. with a complimentary Lindy Hop lesson included. No prior dance experience or partner required for this event. Attire should be relaxed with comfortable shoes for dancing.This class meets on Friday 4/24 from 7-10 PM.
This class is suitable for adults of all skill levels.
Anyone with an EBT, WIC, or Connector Care card is eligible for reduced price tickets, distributed on a first come first serve basis. Card to Culture tickets cannot be purchased online. Please call our Box Office at 508.994.2900 to inquire.
