Creative Aging: Print and Stitch

Join the Utah Museum of Fine Arts for a two-session workshop April 2 and 9. Explore the artwork of Marie Wat and create your own narrative using stitching, beads, buttons, stencils, paint, and paper!

Over the course of her career, Watt has told her stories through prints. The collaborative printmaking process allows her to build community through art and storytelling that is personal, cultural, and universal.

from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation includes over sixty artworks that trace three decades of Watt’s career, focusing on her collaborations with Master Printers at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, the Tamarind Institute, and the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. In the UMFA’s special exhibition galleries, this print retrospective is accompanied by her monumental blanket stacks, hanging textiles, and sculptures that also bring these stories to life.

All materials provided. This workshop is free for anyone 55+, registration is required. We know things come up, but please plan carefully so we can keep this programming free! Please do not reserve a ticket if you cannot attend. The UMFA is offering multiple Creative Aging workshops this spring. Please only sign up for one.

Registration priority for this workshop will be given those who have never attended a UMFA Creative Aging Workshop.
