About this Event
Join the Lost Woods project, The Woodland Trust, Natural England, and the Forestry Commission for an introductory workshop on landowner grant schemes for trees, hedges, and other types of wooded habitats.
This free event aims to explain the grant opportunities on offer, the benefits for you as a landowner, and to answer your funding questions. We will also introduce The Lost Woods of the Low Weald and Downs project and its aim to reconnect ancient woodlands through the formation of new nature corridors.
Agenda:
- 9.30am: Arrival and tea/ coffee
- 10am – 12.30pm: Speakers from The Woodland Trust, Forestry Commission, and Natural England will give talks on woodland creation grant schemes and the benefits to landowners. Plumpton College to present a land management case study. Q&A to finish.
- 12.30pm – 1.30pm: Lunch buffet and a chance to speak to representatives from The Woodland Trust, The Lost Woods project, Natural England, and the Forestry Commission.
- 1.30pm – 3.30pm (optional): A guided walk to view newly planted hedges, agroforestry, wooded habitat creation, and priority habitat grassland. Vehicle transportation will be available for guests with mobility issues to reach the halfway viewpoint.
Facilities:
- A finger buffet will be provided at lunchtime. Vegan options available.
- Free car parking
- The AgriFood centre is fully accessible
- No dogs please (except guide dogs and assistance dogs)
Who is this event for?
This event is for farmers, landowners, and land managers in Sussex, who are looking for grant support to create wooded habitats.
The event is hosted by the Lost Woods of the Low Weald and Downs. The project is made possible thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
