About this Event
Join us for an interactive live workshop designed for peer professionals, community leaders, and support staff to explore the transformative concept of "mattering." Using insights from the Mattering Toolkit, participants will learn practical strategies to foster environments where individuals struggling with mental health or social challenges feel valued, appreciated, and connected. This hands-on workshop will guide you through real-world applications of the toolkit, offering opportunities to practice communication techniques, build inclusive spaces, and enhance your peer support skills. Whether you’re new to the concept or looking to deepen your expertise, this workshop will provide the tools and confidence to make a lasting impact in your community.
The Mattering Toolkit is a resource designed to empower peer professionals and others in creating environments where individuals struggling with mental health challenges or social obstacles feel valued and included. By emphasizing the importance of "mattering"—the sense that one's presence is significant and contributions are appreciated—the toolkit provides actionable strategies for fostering meaningful connections, promoting community inclusion, and enhancing individuals' sense of purpose. The toolkit was developed as part of the "Need to Be Needed" project by Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion.
