About this Event

Creating Compelling True Crime & screening Hulu series: The Scream M**der: A True Teen Horror Story

True crime has become one of the most popular documentary genres, but creating ethical, compelling content requires careful consideration and specific expertise. Join acclaimed documentary producer Lisa Quijano Wolfinger for a special evening featuring a screening of Episode 1 & 2 of her latest project, the coming Hulu series: The Scream M**der: A True Teen Horror Story, followed by an in-depth discussion of the genre with Lisa and the show's producers.

Drawing from her extensive experience and current work, Lisa will explore: identifying stories with lasting impact beyond sensationalism, building trust with victims' families and law enforcement, navigating legal considerations and privacy issues, balancing journalistic integrity with dramatic storytelling, working with archival materials and reenactments, and understanding what major platforms seek in true crime content.

This unique format offers both the experience of watching a master storyteller's work and the opportunity to learn directly from her creative process. Whether you're developing your first true crime project or expanding your documentary practice, this seminar provides essential insights from a veteran producer actively working at the highest levels of the field.

Lisa Quijano Wolfinger: Executive Producer of Wild Crime, a true crime anthology series, produced for Hulu by ABC News and Lone Wolf Media. Lisa is co-owner of Lone Wolf Media, and has written, produced, and directed a wide range of television programs and films, including episodic drama, high-end factual series, documentaries, and narrative shorts. She is the co-creator and executive producer of Mercy Street, PBS’s first original episodic drama in over ten years.

Followed by informal networking at the Arlo Hotel bar.
