The Right Stuff (1983), the epic historical drama about Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier and the birth of NASA's Project Mercury, is the perfect movie to launch a yearlong film festival celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Museum's building on the National Mall. The movie will be introduced by Space History department chair Margaret Weitekamp and Project Mercury artifact curator Emily Margolis. Please note that, due to the weather forecast and the potential for a significant winter storm in our area, The Right Stuff screening has been postponed to Monday, February 2nd, 2026 at 6:30 PM.
