About this Event
Creating calm, confident horses for the farrier
Does your horse struggle to stand still or lift their feet for the farrier? You’re not alone. These challenges can stem from many different causes — from basic anxiety and fear to arthritis, soreness, balance, and flexibility issues.
Join us on June 12th for an educational and hands-on clinic where we’ll explore:
• Why horses resist hoof handling
• Fear, anxiety, and behavioral challenges
• Physical discomfort, arthritis, and mobility limitations
• Balance and flexibility exercises
• Safe handling techniques for owners
• Training methods to build confidence and cooperation
• When it may be time to involve your veterinarian or bodyworker
About the instructor ...Thom Mason is a certified American farrier recognized for his skill in corrective horseshoeing and for teaching advanced farriery techniques. He is best known for his clinic instruction focused on hoof health, lameness prevention, and the relationship between farriery and equine biomechanics. Mason’s work is valued within the professional horseshoeing community for bridging traditional craftsmanship with evidence-based hoof care.
Whether your horse is young, sensitive, stiff, or simply difficult during appointments, this clinic will help you better understand the “why” behind the behavior — and what to do next.
Your farrier will thank you! 🔨🐎
