About this Event
Following the success of last year’s conference, Bethany Christian Trust and Edinburgh City Mission are organizing ‘Created for Community,’ a Christian Befriending Conference in Edinburgh on 21st September 2024.
God by His very nature is community, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And we are created in God’s image, to be in conversation and relationship with Him and one another. Yet loneliness and isolation are a reminder of the brokenness of our world and the tarnishing of the image of God in humankind.
Through the befriending ministries Salaam, Passing the Baton and Two’s Company, we seek to bring people from a place of hopelessness, isolation and pain to a place of peace, love and belonging. We befriend those on the margins to model Jesus’ ministry which reached out to those who were often neglected and forgotten.
The ‘Created for Community’ conference promises to be a wonderful time of fellowship and learning as we explore what it means to be created for community and the role Christian befriending can play in building meaningful relationships.
We’ll enjoy great teaching from Bob Akroyd, Chaplain at HMP Edinburgh and Lecturer at Edinburgh Theological Seminary, as well as helpful workshops to equip us to create community in our workplaces, churches and neighbourhoods. The networking continues over an optional soup lunch.
We hope that you can join us!
