That subtlly faded, slightly muted color that is so popular today is accomplished with one of the oldest forms of paint, milk paint. While you can buy it in powder form from a number of merchants, why not learn to make your own???
Traces of milk paint have been found in prehistoric caves and Egyptian tombs. Milk paint was one of the most popular paints for furniture and interiors in 18th century America.
In the first hour of this workshop we'll delve into a little history of the paint, students will help the instructor make the milk paint base and hopefully will apply our first coat of paint to the trays we are decorating.
At 1:30 we will have 12:30 we'll have a lunch break. You can bring your own or we will give you a list of local eateries to try.
In the afternoon we'll add more paint as needed and work on the decorative stencilling. If you are not through by the end of the workshop we'll have small jars so you can take some paint hom with you, but remember, it doesn't keep very long, so use it up soon.
