Create Your Own Cabochon

Join us for this hands on class where you'll learn how to create your very own cabochon. We have all the needed equipment to take a rough stone, and turn it into a shiny cab that can be used in jewelry, or simply displayed. You will learn safety and skills necessary to use a trim saw, cabbing machine, and flat lap. We have a wide variety of stones and shapes to chose from.

Whether you're looking for a new hobby, wanting to add a new skill to your jewelry making, looking to experiment with different laipdary machines, or just wondering what to do with all those rocks you collected, this course has something for everyone.

After this class, you will walk away with one unique cabochon made by you!

Skill level: No experience needed. This course is open to all skill levels.

Cost: 2 hrs, $80 for one person. Add on options available for up to 3 people.

What you will learn:

• Safety tips for working with lapidary equipment
• Different types of machines available for lapidary work
• How to select the perfect stone for your purpose
• Mohs hardness
• Selecting shapes using templates or freeform
• Tips for refining shapes depending on the use of the cabochon
• How to achieve a smooth, high-shine polish

Must be 16 years or age (unless arranged before signing up for the class)

Safety Requirements: No loose clothing and long hair must be tied back. Safety glasses, masks, ear protection, and aprons provided.
