I'm teaching Freeform Blocking for Millinery on Saturday, October 18th and Sunday the 19th in Alameda, California. Hosted by the Sewing Room. 10:30-3pm both days. Step into the world of millinery and discover the magic of Freeform Blocking. In this immersive two-day workshop, you'll learn how to sculpt a one-of-a-kind felt hat using nothing but steam, your hands, and creativity—no sewing experience required!
After viewing an inspirational slideshow, create a 1920s Cloche, a timeless Fedora, or a chic Cocktail Hat. Shape and mold a pre-formed fur felt cone over a standard wooden hat block. With expert guidance, you’ll manipulate, refine, and hand-stitch your hat to achieve a flawless, custom fit that complements your personal style.
Perfect for beginners and hat lovers alike, this hands-on class will leave you with a beautifully crafted, wearable Art Deco styled masterpiece. Students will also receive step-by-step notes with a resource guide so that they can continue experimenting on their own with this technique.
