Overview

Conversación y creación en español is a six-week adult enrichment series combining foundational Spanish conversation with hands-on creative projects inspired by artists and regional cultures across the Spanish-speaking world.

Each 90-minute session centers on one creative practice and conversational Spanish rooted in lived culture rather than textbook grammar.

This is an embodied, culturally grounded approach to language learning.

Educational Philosophy

This series honors the layered histories, Indigenous traditions and regional diversity that shape Spanish-speaking cultures. Language is explored not as a commodity, but as a living expression of Land, migration, art and community.

Participants speak imperfectly and authentically, create with their hands and learn through experience.

Adults (primarily parents of lilac students)

Beginners or “rusty” Spanish learners

Spanish speakers looking for creative community connection

No prior Spanish experience required

About the Facilitator

Tlazol is an artist, bilingual educator, community organizer and certified herbal doula based in Middle Tennessee.

Their work centers cultural storytelling, creative practice and embodied learning.

They have facilitated workshops in art, ritual practice and community education, creating spaces that are welcoming, reflective and culturally grounded.

With a background in education, activism, birthwork and herbalism, Zol brings a relational, community-centered approach to teaching - honoring language as something lived, inherited and shaped by land and migration.
