CRAWL x Debut SPACE OUT Exhibition
About this Event
SPACE OUT x "CRAWL: Alchemical Metamorphosis" by Moe Pancho
Introducing SPACE OUT, Lobe Studio's new community-focused daytime programming series bringing together visual art, immersive spatial sound, and community connection.
More than an art exhibition, SPACE OUT is designed to be a community living room — a welcoming space to relax, create, connect, and spend time however you like. Bring a book or read one of ours, work on a project, play one of our board games, catch up with friends, or simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. Stay for 20 minutes or the entire afternoon!
For our debut exhibition, we're excited to welcome Moe Pancho, an entomological artist whose practice explores the fascinating world of insects.
Visitors are invited to experience Moe's artwork alongside an immersive spatial soundscape made by Claine Lamb, creating a unique environment for exploration, relaxation, and inspiration.
Unlike a traditional gallery, there's no expectation to quietly observe the artwork and move along. SPACE OUT encourages visitors to make themselves at home, engage with the art at their own pace, and enjoy the space as a place to gather.
Exhibition Hours
Sundays: 12 PM – 6 PM
Mondays: 3 PM – 9 PM
Drop in anytime during opening hours and stay as long as you like!
Featured Artist: Moe Pancho
Tansi, my name is Moe Pancho and I am a queer, disabled multidisciplinary artist and proud member of the Metis Nation of British Columbia with roots from the Peepeekisis Cree Nation on Treaty 4 territory. My work is deeply intertwined with my mixed ancestry, combining elements that speak to me from the importance of land based practices and our non-human relatives to infusing folklore and imagery from my European ancestry. Art has always been my strongest and most powerful language for me to navigate the complexities of identity, pain, history, and the world around me.
CRAWL: Alchemical Metamorphosis; the importance of bugs in the natural world
Removing entomological species from their usual sterile environments, to ones laden with art, feeling, and sound, we hope to deepen one's relationship with bugs. Whether that be to encourage already established appreciation, or to help shift the perspective from fear to beauty, aiming to leave viewers with a richer perspective. Alongside the soundscapes designed by Claine Lamb, I hope that CRAWL leaves you feeling intrigued, fascinated and full of wonder. One room, two practices, many sensations. The visual work asks you to look at the creatures differently, and the spatial sound design asks you to hear differently, and neither is the background for the other. Bugs, insects, creepy crawlies, whatever terms you prefer, are absolutely imperative in human survival; they directly pollinate our food sources, they feed the animals we share the land with, carry information from the land and are just beautiful and fascinating to watch and learn about. This show is about highlighting their unusual beauty and their roles in our ecosystem, inviting you to remember that even the smallest beings hold immense power and importance.
