Crafty Chicks: Sourdough with Celtic Crumbs
About this Event
If sourdough has ever felt intimidating, this is your night to change that completely. Elizabeth Kohler is the brilliant, self‑taught, and thoroughly battle‑tested creator and entrepreneur behind Celtic Crumbs. She will guide you through a beginner-friendly Intro to Sourdough night designed to take the confusion out of the process and help you feel confident baking at home.
- How to care for and feed a starter
- How fermentation really works (in real‑people language)
- Shaping, scoring, and baking basics
- Tips, tricks, and troubleshooting from someone who has tested, tweaked, and perfected her craft
You’ll leave class with:
- Your very own dehydrated sourdough starter (directions on how to rehydrate it)
- A Sourdough guide with helpful information and resources
- Sourdough bread and discard recipes from Celtic Crumbs
- The confidence to master your first loaf
- And quite possibly a few “raised” new friendships along the way
This evening is about more than bread. It’s about bringing together neighbors, friends, colleagues, and even those wild family members—everyone is welcome at the table to learn, laugh, and taste their way through the magic of sourdough.
As always, we’ll provide the cozy atmosphere and the treats: sip on mocktails, wine, or chocolate milk and enjoy hors d’oeuvres as you learn inside Folk Song Farm’s breathtaking 173‑year‑old barn. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. and winds down around 8:00 p.m., or when the last conversation finally cool like loaves on a rack.
Come curious, leave confident and inspired with a starter, recipes, and a new appreciation for the art (and heart) of sourdough.
