Crafting a Constellation with Chet’la Sebree

Join The Clifton House on June 18th at 6 pm for, “Crafting a Constellation”, an intimate craft talk and writing workshop led by poet and writer Chet’la Sebree, author of Blue Opening and Turn (W)here.
Delve into Chet’la Sebree’s world and writing process as she explores and explains the Lyric Constellation, a generative writing tool she developed for her own work. During the craft talk, she will explore how to develop narrative arcs and themes for poems and essays collections, and give insight on how to create resonant, cohesive and reflective work. Participants interested in completing a manuscript or full collection of poems will gain insight perspectives that will help guide their own creative journey with poetry and/or essay writing.
After the craft talk, copies of her book will be available for purchase.

About the Artist:
Chet'la is the author of the debut essay collection Turn (W)here: A Geography of Home, (The Dial Press- May 5, 2026). She is also the author of three poetry collections: Blue Opening, which was a Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist and a Lambda Literary Bisexual Poetry Award finalist; Field Study (winner of the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets); and Mistress (New Issues Poetry Prize Winner and NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work-Poetry finalist).
She is an assistant professor of English at the George Washington University and teaches in Randolph College’s Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing Program.
A Note on Parking:
The Clifton House is located in a close-knit residential community, thus street parking is very limited. As we practice being good neighbors, we recommend planning your travel to The Clifton House via ride shares, carpools, or public transit to preserve the limited street parking for local residents. You may also consider parking on Clifton Road (runs parallel to Talbot Road) and walking up the street to The Clifton House.
