About this Event

Join us at the Blake Planetarium for an engaging exploration of the celestial objects we know best: Earth, the Moon, and the Sun. Discover how they work together to create many of the phenomena we experience every day.

Our feature presentation, Earth, Moon and Sun, follows Coyote, a humorous character inspired by Native American oral traditions, as he attempts to make sense of the universe around him. Along the way, Coyote's misunderstandings lead to surprising discoveries about the science behind our home planet and its closest celestial neighbors. His questions and misconceptions encourage audiences to think critically, distinguish between myths and scientific explanations, and better understand how Earth, Moon, and Sun function as an interconnected system.

Throughout this visually engaging fulldome adventure, you'll learn why the Sun shines through the process of fusion, what causes day and night, and how the Moon's orbit creates phases and eclipses. You'll also explore lunar craters, discover how scientists have traveled to the Moon in the past, and learn about future missions that may take humans even farther into space.

Following the feature, guests will explore the early summer night sky and learn how to find Scorpius, the Scorpion, one of the season's most recognizable constellations. We'll focus on Antares, the brilliant red star known as the "Heart of the Summer Scorpion," and discover how to locate this celestial landmark in the evening sky. Participants will also be introduced to a simple partial-sky star map, providing an easy way to continue their stargazing adventures throughout the summer.

Perfect for families, curious learners, and aspiring astronomers, this program combines storytelling, science, and practical stargazing skills in a fun and memorable experience.

TICKETS ARE SOLD ONLINE ONLY. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.

Please note that we are a ticketless venue. When you buy your ticket online, you are immediately added to our attendee list, so there is no need to print your ticket or present an e-ticket. You can simply check in with your name and a smile.
