A 1.6 MILE MAINLY GRAVEL ROUTE AROUND THE FAIRGROUNDS CAMPING AREA, THE GRAVEL MIDWAY, THROUGH THE ARENA AND DOWN TO THE GRAVEL STRAIGHTAWAY FINISH.
CHIP TIMED!!
This is not a first time racers race but the 16 mile is a good entry level for any rider with a few gravel races under their belt.
CRIT racing involves riding close with other riders and if your not use to it then it can get your nerves up and in this format mistakes will affect the riders around you. Gratton does a great weekly CRIT race on pavement that is a great place to go if you want to try this but are not sure if your experience is there yet.
RACE DISTANCES WITH YOUR RECOMMNDED FLAT COURSE PACE
8:30am 16 Mile: solo pace: 16mph; group pace: 17.5mph
9:30am 24 Mile: solo pace: 17mph; group pace: 19mph
11:00am 36.8 Mile: solo pace: 20mph; group pace: 22mph

THE SAFEST WAY FOR THIS RACE TO HAPPEN IS WITH LARGE GROUPS OF RIDERS WORKING TOGETHER TOWARDS A COMMON GOAL. RIDING FASTER AS A GROUP. THE LONG STRAIGHTAWAY TO THE FINISH LINE GIVES A GREAT SPOT TO GO FOR IT ON THE LAST LAP.
RULES SUPPORTING OVERALL SAFETY OF RIDERS
If you lose contact with your group of riders you have 1 lap to gain back that position or find another group to ride with. if you can not maintain a pace with a group of riders you must withdraw from the race. breakways are excluded from this rule.
groups overtaking other riders will announce pass left at a safe spot to pass.
GROUPS BEING PASSED MUST MOVE TO THE RIGHT AND SLOW AS A GROUP WHILE BEING PASSED
How large of a group needed is up to the discretion of the race director based on overall event safety. We thank you for helping us keep riders safe.
We will assign waves with exact start times.
Overall winners of the different race distances and waves will be awarded.
