The San Mateo County History Museum, at 2200 Broadway in Redwood City, will present Denise Jaffke, who will speak on the history of shore whaling along the California Coast on Saturday, January 24 at 1 p.m. Jaffke, who is a member of the California State Parks Dive Team, will draw on recent archaeological surveys conducted by California State Parks and the University of California, which has focused on the remains of the whaling stations that once operated in this region including two in San Mateo County - - one at Pigeon Point and the other at Pillar Point.
The program is sponsored by the Cypress Lawn Heritage Foundation.
This presentation is free to Museum members and is included with Museum admission. Admission can be purchased at the door.
