Join us for the 2026 Courage Ride, a community bike ride supporting sarcoma cancer research at the University of Iowa Health Care Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.Courage Ride begins and ends at Big Grove Brewery and Taproom in Iowa City, with five route options ranging from 18.5 to 105 miles. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just along for the ride, it’s designed for all levels.
The ride honors Seth Bailey, who passed away from sarcoma cancer at just 25 years old in 2003. In the face of his diagnosis, Seth showed remarkable courage and optimism—qualities that continue to inspire this event today. In his memory, his parents, Jackie and Tom Bailey, partnered with Bicyclists of Iowa City (BIC) to create a ride that brings people together to support research and one another.
What to expect:
• Five scenic routes of varying distance
• Breakfast, lunch, and Kalona Bars after your ride
• Rest stops with snacks and drinks
• Live music at Big Grove and rest stops
• SAG support, bike mechanics, and detailed route maps
• Silent auction at Big Grove from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Since 2005, Courage Ride has raised over $1 million to support critical sarcoma research, fund the majority of seed grants at the University of Iowa, and drive new discoveries, partnerships, and hope for patients and families.
