Couples Paddling as ONE Experience

WHAT: Join us for an hour long BONDING and TRAINING EXPERIENCE on the land and water. Our certified ACA Instructors and trained guides will work with couples on land with safety and proper paddling techniques. You will learn the Forward Stroke, Reverse Stroke, Sweep Stroke and how to make turns, slow down and stop. Then you will be put in a TANDEM KAYAK (2-person) with one person in the front and one in the back and launched on the Reservoir with one of our crew who will work with you so you learn to paddle as one. We will then have you switch seats and try it again. The final activity will be putting you each in your own SINGLE KAYAK and letting you paddle on the reservoir at your leisure for a bit if you would like to. We have found in our experience that as fun and perhaps romantic it may seem paddling together in a tandem kayak or a canoe.. it is sometimes more work and effort than most people realize until they actually do it. Plus double boats are so much heavier and longer than single kayaks and therefore harder to carry and haul in or on your vehicle and launching is definitely more of a challenge too.

WHO CAN JOIN: We call this a couples paddle... but it can be 2-friends, a Mom and Daughter, Father and Son, 2 - cousins/sisters/brothers... and ALL AGES welcome... as long as they are capable of paddling and have a willingness to listen and learn!
