Escape the everyday and immerse yourself in something truly timeless — a two-day Dry Stone Walling course nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds at Notgrove Holidays. You’ll be led by DSWA qualified instructor Richard Gray, building real, permanent walls on our working farm — no repetition style training here — with fresh air, countryside charm, and a sense of heritage built right into every stone.
𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫
• Beginners (aged 16+) – no experience required; grasp the fundamentals: dismantling, stone sorting, foundations, through-stones, dressing, coping, and tool use. Great for landscapers or DIY enthusiasts.
• Improvers Course – for those who’ve already completed a beginners’ course or have some walling experience. Hone in on retained walls or vocational techniques, and work on walled projects tailored to your interests.
𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬
Beginners Course - £199 for 2 days tuition including tools & kit.
Bring a packed lunch, waterproofs, gloves, sturdy footwear, sun cream.
Improvers Course - £250 for a 2 day advanced workshop tailored to your experience level. Bring a packed lunch, waterproofs, gloves, sturdy footwear, sun cream.
📋 Course structure:
• Day 1: 9:00 arrival, building foundations, stone selection, learning safe and proper techniques, lunch, practical wall build.
• Day 2: Continuation, coping stones, finishing touches by 16:00 each day
