CORPOREAL

This show brings electrifying and diverse classical music programming to Harlem, while emphasizing how sound and movement can inform and inspire one another. Musicians Graeme Steele Johnson, Giancarlo Latta, Aaron Wolff, and Fifi Zhang perform a variety of solo and chamber music written by living composers alongside dancers Marisa Clementi, ALEXA GRÆ, and Leah Wilks. The program features music by John Zorn, Viet Cuong, Reena Esmail, Zosha Di Castri, inti figgis-vizueta, and Gabriella Smith. The centerpiece of the evening is the world premiere of a commissioned work by composer Yaz Lancaster.

This project is made possible in part with funds from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) Creative Engagement & UMEZ Arts Engagement, regrant programs supported by The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) in partnership with the City Council, The New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, the Howard Gilman Foundation, and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation (UMEZ).
