About this Event

The league is five consecutive Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. You can arrive early and get some practice in. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Your team will play six games a night for the first four weeks. On the fifth week is the end of league tournament.

Doling On Atlantic is the venue for the league. It's easy to get to! Just off of Kansas Expressway on Atlantic Street. We're located next door to the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. If for some unforeseen issue our parking lot is full, feel free to park at the church. We have a shared use agreement with them.

Our league is set up for new teams, inexperienced players, and for all players in general. We use a scoring handicapping that levels the playing field. In this way new players get free points when they are playing an experienced player. As your game improves, you'll notice the handicapping will slowly be less and less. That's because the Scoreholio App tracks your performance over time and adjusts the settings based on how you're doing.

You do not need to have your own set of bags to play with. We have loaner sets that you may use. Once you play a lot, you'll likely want to purchase a set of your own. We have sets you can purchase or we'll guide you to bag manufacturers where you can order whatever you want.

Here are the basic rules for Cornhole.

  • First team to score 21 points wins.
  • There is no bust rule. You can score more than 21 points and still win.
  • Each team has two players.
  • Each teams players play from the same side of the board at each end of the court.
  • There is an imaginary line that goes across the front of the board. You can't cross the line. If you do, it's technically a foul and that bag doesn't count. When you're new to the game, most people don't get up in arms about crossing the line a little bit.
  • There are four bags for each team. They will all look the same color or style.
  • At the beginning of the game, one player from your team or the opposing team will spin the bag to determine who throws first. The seam of the bag will point toward the player that gets to throw first. Or you can use a coinflip. It's the same principle.
  • Then the game begins. Either your team or the opponents team will throw their first bag. Then you alternate back and forth until all bags are thrown to the other end.
  • One bag in the hole is worth 3 points.
  • One bag on the board is worth 1 point.
  • A bag on the floor is worth 0 points.
  • The max you can possibly score for one round is 12 points. In this scenario, one team would put all four of their bags in the whole and the other player did not put any in the hole and none of the bags on the board. 12 to 0.
  • If both teams have the same amount of points, for instance 6 points for each team, the score for that round is 0 points. That's because neither team had more points than the other team. We call that a "wash".
  • At the other end, they will keep track of the results and announce the score for that round. Then the score is entered into the scoreboard.
  • This goes on for as many rounds as necessary until one team scores 21 points or more.
  • At the conclusion of the game, it's customary to say "good game" to the opponents and to give each other a fist bump. Sometimes you won't want to, but it's the custom lol.

If for any reason you or your teammate are unable to come and play one night, it's ok to walk and play both ends of the court that night. Your team will have to give up 5 points at the beginning of each game if this has to occur.

If neither player is going to be able to come on a given night, text or call the organizer to let them know so they can make adjustments to schedule.

That's it in a nutshell! It might seem complicated, but it's really not at all. Everyone will help each other out to keep everything rolling right along.

All new players receive a free SGF Cornhole T-Shirt! Remind the organizer if he forgets to give one to you!
