Guided by elders and tradition bearers, you will:
Learn about the Cañao, a festival or a ceremony of the indigenous people of Northern Philippines. It is a socio-religious ritual where chickens, pigs and/or carabaos are butchered as a sacrifice and feasted on.
- Know the meaning and significance behind each dance movement
- Move to the hypnotic rhythms of solibao (drums) and gangsa (gongs), echoing through the trees
- Witness how pinikpikan, a ceremonial chicken stew, is prepared
- Take part in tapey (rice wine) making
- After the workshop, gather for a feast of authentic Cordillera cuisine prepared by Tinuno and the Ibaloi community
