A little bit about Gianluca Picca...

Gianluca Picca began his career in hospitality in Italy before moving abroad to refine his craft in some of Europe’s most prestigious restaurants and wine programs. His early career took him to Michelin-starred establishments in France, Spain, and Germany, as well as aboard the legendary Queen Elizabeth II, where he further developed his passion for wine, service, and global cuisine.

After extensive experience as a sommelier and restaurant manager, Gianluca transitioned into the wine trade, joining the renowned Ceretto family in Piedmont, where he spent over a decade expanding the brand internationally. He later served as Export Director for leading Tuscan producers before returning to Piedmont in 2024 to join Cordero di Montezemolo as Head Sales Director.

Today, Gianluca represents one of Barolo’s most historic family-owned estates, bringing decades of experience, deep regional knowledge, and a global perspective to his tastings. He speaks five languages and is passionate about sharing the stories, vineyards, and traditions behind Italy’s most celebrated wines.

Cordero di Montezemolo is one of Piedmont’s most historic and respected family-owned wineries, stewarded by 19 generations of the Cordero family since 1340. Located in La Morra, at the heart of the Barolo appellation, the estate is deeply rooted in tradition, terroir, and thoughtful vineyard stewardship. The family’s hillside vineyards produce benchmark Barolo alongside beautifully balanced Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo.
