Out Of The Cellar Horror Film Festival is launching OOTC Filmmaker Mixers — a new monthly gathering designed to bring together the Bay Area’s filmmakers, actors, horror fans, cosplayers, artists, gamers, haunt creatives, and movie obsessives in one room.
More than a networking event, the mixers are intended to build a real creative community around independent genre filmmaking in the Bay Area — connecting emerging creators with working professionals, future collaborators, and the people shaping the local underground scene.
The next mixer takes place Thursday, June 18 at Harry's Hofbrau in San Leandro from 6:00 - 9:00 PM (check in for free drink at 5:30), featuring special guest Lord Blood Rah — local horror host.
Each mixer will feature guest speakers, filmmaker conversations, social meetups, and opportunities for attendees to connect with collaborators for future projects — including OOTC48, the festival’s upcoming 48-hour filmmaking challenge this October. Completed films will premiere at the historic Chabot Theater during the 2026 Out Of The Cellar Horror Film Festival on November 14.
The mixers are open to all experience levels and creative backgrounds — whether attendees are filmmakers, actors, makeup artists, horror fans, practical FX creators, musicians, editors, or simply people who love movies and want to meet others who do too.
Out Of The Cellar’s inaugural Horror Film Festival is held at the historic Chabot Theater in Castro Valley and celebrates independent horror cinema with a focus on atmosphere, artistry, and community.
