Commit to making a difference in your community this year. Join the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force at a neighborhood clean-up event in Hayward.

These events provide Hayward residents with an opportunity to make a real and significant difference in their neighborhoods, connect with their neighbors, and qualify for community service hours.

Date: Saturday, February 28, 2026
Time: 8:00am - 12:00pm

Cleanup Area: We will remove and report blite from the curbs and sidewalks along Longwood Ave. and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Supervision: Adult Supervision for minors is NOT Provided by the City of Hayward at this event. ALL volunteers (including minors under the age of 18) must complete the registration process and be accompanied by a registered participating adult over the age of 18.

Day of the Event:

Check-in at: at Longwood Elementary School, 850 Longwood Ave. Look for the Keep Hayward Clean and Green booth.

What to expect: Upon checking in to confirm your online registration, you will be provided supplies, then assigned an area within the surrounding neighborhood to collect litter on the sidewalks or in the gutter or storm drain areas. You may also use Access Hayward to report other blight issues you observe such as graffiti, abandoned vehicles, any large items you cannot carry, or illegal dumping. You can download Access Hayward from the App store on any smart device.

What to bring: Wear sturdy shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and bring a refillable water bottle. Supplies including a safety vest, a litter grabber, and garbage bags will be provided. We also provide disposal gloves; feel free to bring your own gloves if you have a pair! **Supplies are adult one size fits all.

Snacks: Light snacks are provided at the conclusion of the event.

Weather: Events will be cancelled during inclement weather such as storms and heavy rain. Events are held as scheduled during light drizzle/sprinkles - dress accordingly!

Restrooms: A portable wash station and restroom will be available at check-in locations that do not already have restrooms.

Community Services Hours: Community Services Hours are available for this event, please remember minors must be accompanied by a participating/registered adult. Adult supervision is NOT provided at these events.

IMPORTANT For Your SAFETY: Volunteers are prohibited from abating unhoused encampments or entering private property, such as residential areas, businesses, railroad tracks, flood control channels, waterways, underpass/slope areas, or freeway on/off ramps. Instead, please use Access Hayward to report unhoused encampments or issues on private property. Volunteers can access the public right-of-way areas only which include the sidewalk and when safely accessible gutters and the tops of storm drains. Please be sure to refer to the KHCG Cleanup Event Safety board at the event for a list of important safety tips.
