About this Event
Sue Granzella is a retired elementary school teacher with written works featured in over fourty journals and anthologies including The Masters Review, McSweeney's, and Hippocampus, among others.
Her debut book, , is a powerful narrative nonfiction collection of first-person accounts from the front lines of today's culture wars. Inspired by the 2022 event of the Proud Boys storming a drag queen story time at the San Lorenzo Library, this work features stories from Black educators, queer teachers, targeted librarians, and vulnerable students, offering a sobering view of what's at stake in our schools.
But more than that, it is a testament to those who refuse to back down.
Join Books on B and Sue for a reading of Pushed to the Edge, in conversation with teacher-librarian Lorena Sanchez, and a general discussion on why representation in books is important for LGBTQ+ individuals, especially children. This event will also feature a Q&A and book signing.
Light refreshments will be provided.
