About this Event
A rare opportunity to learn woodland management and traditional tool skills with ecologist & tree expert Russell Miller.
We will be coppicing hazel to improve habitat for wildlife.
Coppicing is a traditional woodland management technique. It is very sustainable because cut trees grow back. Cutting allows light into the woods for wild flowers and bulbs. It creates precious decaying wood habitat for beetles, fungi and small mammals (to hide in).
Led by experienced tree expert and ecologist Russell Miller the whole day workshop will involve use of saws and other cutting tools. Tools and training will be provided.
Not suitable for children.
Bring lunch and a mug for tea (provided).
Wear boots or strong shoes. Workshop will go ahead even in poor weather.
