About this Event

Bringing the Past to Life: How a Teacher’s Dream of Fossils Became Reality at the Alf Museum

Join us for an extraordinary journey into the prehistoric roots of our region with Dr. Andrew Farke, Director of the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology at The Webb Schools. With his deep expertise in vertebrate paleontology and a passion for community education, Dr. Farke will trace the remarkable evolution of a Claremont institution—from the pioneering field trips of legendary teacher Raymond Alf to the creation of the only nationally accredited museum of paleontology on a secondary school campus.

As a leader at the forefront of paleontological research and public engagement, Dr. Farke will provide expert insight into the "dream of fossils" that transformed local discoveries into a world-class collection. Whether you are a local history buff, a science enthusiast, or simply curious about the ancient giants that once roamed the Inland Empire, this session offers a vital perspective on the dedication to discovery that continues to bring our deepest history to life.
