COOKING WITH BOHÉMIEN - A relaxed evening of cooking, conversation & dinner
About this Event
A relaxed evening of cooking, conversation & good food at Môr
On November 11th, we’re doing something a little different. For our first ever Bohémien Cooking Class, I’ll be taking over the kitchen at one of our favourite venues, Môr, and cooking a three-course meal in front of you.
But this isn’t a traditional cookery class. There won’t be rows of workstations, complicated equipment or a recipe you’re expected to follow along with. Instead, you’ll sit back, watch me cook, eat the food as it’s prepared and join the conversation. I’ll talk you through the ingredients, techniques and decisions behind each dish, explain why I’m doing things rather than simply telling you what to do, and leave plenty of time for questions and discussion along the way.
It’s essentially a Bohémien dinner meets a cooking demonstration — informal, conversational and designed to make you a more confident cook.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The evening will be deliberately relaxed. We’ll begin with the first course being served, before moving into the demonstration for the following dishes.
As I cook, I’ll talk through the process from start to finish, explaining techniques, ingredients, preparation and the little decisions that can make a significant difference to the finished dish.
Ask questions. Interrupt me. Tell me I’m doing something wrong. There is no formal classroom environment and absolutely no expectation that you need to be an experienced cook. If you’ve got a question, ask it.
If you’ve always wondered why a particular technique works, we’ll talk about it. If you want to know what you can substitute at home, we’ll discuss it. The aim is for it to feel much more like spending an evening in the kitchen with a chef than attending a traditional cookery course.
THE MENU
For our first class, I’ll be cooking three courses, each chosen to demonstrate a different set of techniques that you can take away and use in your own kitchen.
COURSE ONE
Bitter Leaf Salad
Apple, Celery, Walnut & Goat’s Cheese
A fresh, seasonal salad designed to explore the fundamentals of balance. We’ll look at properly preparing salad leaves, building a balanced vinaigrette and understanding how acidity, sweetness, bitterness, richness and texture work together to create a dish.
We’ll also cover a few simple chef’s tricks for getting more from everyday ingredients.
COURSE TWO
Chicken Fricassée
Rice Pilaf
A classic French chicken dish and an opportunity to work with a whole bird from start to finish.
We’ll look at how to break down a whole chicken and maximise every part, how to cook the meat properly, how to build a sauce alongside it and how to produce beautifully cooked rice quickly and reliably.
COURSE THREE
Chocolate Ganache
Yoghurt & Seasonal Fruit
A simple but indulgent dessert demonstrating how a handful of good ingredients can create something genuinely delicious.
We’ll make an incredibly simple chocolate ganache, look at how to work with yoghurt and explore how richness, acidity and freshness can be balanced to create a dessert that feels much more complicated than it actually is.
A NOTE ON THE MENU
The food isn’t there simply to give you something to eat while you watch. Every course has been chosen because it teaches something.
The idea is that by the end of the evening, you’ve not only eaten three courses of Bohémien food, but you’ve understood how and why they were made.
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE HOME
As well as the three-course meal, everyone attending will receive:
- Recipe cards for all three dishes
Including the key ingredients, methods and techniques discussed during the evening.
- New techniques and knowledge
From preparation and cooking methods to seasoning, sauces and how to approach ingredients more confidently.
- The confidence to adapt
I’ll talk about substitutions, variations and how to apply the techniques to other dishes rather than simply giving you three recipes to memorise.
And, of course…
A very full stomach.
THIS ISN’T A TRADITIONAL COOKING CLASS
You won’t be cooking along with me.
Instead, I’ll be cooking everything in front of you while you watch, eat, ask questions and join the conversation. There’s no pressure to participate, no requirement to have any previous cooking experience and no expectation that you’ll leave knowing how to make exactly three dishes and nothing else.
The goal is much broader:
to help you understand cooking better.
Why something works.
Why something doesn’t.
What to look for.
What to listen for.
When to turn the heat up.
When to turn it down.
When to stop cooking.
And perhaps most importantly, how to make decisions rather than simply follow instructions.
THE SETTING
We’ll be hosting the evening at Môr, one of our favourite places to cook.
The intimate setting makes it particularly suited to this format, giving us the opportunity to keep the group small and the evening conversational.
There’ll be plenty of time to eat, talk and ask questions rather than rushing through a rigid timetable.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Absolutely anyone.
Whether you’re someone who cooks every day and wants to understand the techniques behind restaurant cooking, or someone who simply wants to become more confident in the kitchen, this evening is designed to be accessible.
You don’t need professional equipment.
You don’t need previous experience.
You just need to enjoy food and be interested in learning.

This is our first ever Bohémien Cooking Class.
We’re deliberately treating this as a first run — an opportunity to try the format, see what you enjoy, listen to your feedback and hopefully develop it into something bigger.
If it works, we’d love to bring these evenings back regularly and explore different subjects, ingredients and techniques.
So if you’ve ever wanted to spend an evening watching a chef cook, eating the results and being able to ask absolutely anything, we’d love you to join us.
Come hungry. Come curious.
We’ll take care of the rest.
