Cooking skills workshop: 6) Core Ingredients, Countless Meals
About this Event
Often, the most versatile meals begin with simple staples that can be adapted in countless ways depending on what is available at home.
This workshop focuses on affordable core ingredients that form the basis of many different meals, helping households reduce unnecessary spending while making cooking feel less stressful and more manageable. We will explore cupboard and fridge staples that offer flexibility, last well and can be combined to create a variety of nutritious dishes without needing a long shopping list each week.
Participants will learn how to build meals around everyday items, how to make ingredients stretch further and how buying strategically can reduce waste and improve confidence in the kitchen. The session is designed to show that good meals do not need to rely on expensive products or constant trips to the supermarket.
Our trainer, Shaun, will show you how to save both time and money. No prior cooking experience needed - this event is suitable for anyone.
The Community Foundation for Wakefield District regularly runs skills for life workshops that can make a genuine difference to everyday life. For example, when people feel confident in the kitchen, it becomes easier to manage household budgets, reduce stress around food and build habits that support longer-term stability.
This workshop is funded by Sainsbury's Good Food For All.
