Cooking at the Farm: A Lebanese Experience
About this Event
Cooking From the Farm: A Lebanese Experience
Sunday September 27th, 10:30 AM - 1 PM
at Alemany Farm
Instructor: Tamara Kahhale
Come to Alemany Farm for a full cooking workshop! Learn more about the importance (and fun!) of eating seasonally, how to harvest seasonal crops, and work through some basic cooking instructions (knife skills, anyone?). Together, we’ will cook a few dishes in our outdoor kitchen and enjoy them in lovely early fall. The menu will be Lebanese inspired, and please bring your own knife and cutting board.
Please note: kids 15 years or older are welcome
Tamara Kahhale (she/her) is a former electrical engineer turned landworker who was in the climate technology solutions space before realizing that she wanted to approach the climate crisis from an agricultural and land-based lens. She has developed a deep passion for regenerative agriculture and soil health, as well as food justice and sovereignty, climate education, and community-driven practices. As the daughter of Lebanese immigrants, she has a deep connection to food and believes that everyone has a right to eat culturally relevant food in a way that does not harm the planet. She has one and a half years of professional kitchen experience -- both in the kitchen and teaching -- and has been a hobby chef and baker for all her adult life. Tamara has been part of the Alemany Farm team for 1.5 years as a regular farm volunteer and workday leader.
Suggested Donation: $55 (includes materials/ ingredients). No one turned away for lack of funds. Our workshops are donation-based and sliding scale to make them accessable to all.
