About this Event

Join us for a reception and conversation between food writer Tom Parker-Bowles and Royal broadcaster Hugo Vickers. Tom Parker Bowles will discuss his latest book In Cooking and the Crown: Royal Recipes from Queen Victoria to King Charles III.

The event will begin with a wine reception at 5 pm. The program will begin at 6 pm. There will be time for mingling and wine after the talk.

Tom Parker Bowles has been an award-winning food writer for over twenty years and is the author of eight books on food (including the bestselling Fortnum & Mason cookbooks). He is the restaurant critic for The Mail on Sunday and is also a contributing editor for Esquire, Country Life, and Condé Nast Traveller, plus a regular judge on the BBC’s Masterchef. Tom is a godson of King Charles III, and his mother, Camilla, is Queen.

Hugo Vickers is well known as a biographer, lecturer and broadcaster, and is an acknowledged expert on the Royal Family. He is regularly called upon to commentate on important state occasions, and at times when the Royal Family are in the news. He has covered events from the first wedding of the Prince of Wales, many royal weddings and the funerals of Diana, the Queen Mother, Prince Philip and the State Funeral of The Queen. The Financial Times recently described him as: ‘the most knowledgeable royal biographer on the planet.’

He has written many biographies of 20th century figures, including Cecil Beaton, Vivien Leigh, the Duchess of Windsor, Princess Andrew of Greece, and the Queen Mother. He has attacked the forty episodes of the Netflix series of The Crown – in his book, The Crown Dissected (2019), and in a privately published sequel, covering Season 4.
