Join us for an afternoon of theater history at Linden Place! On Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 3 PM, author and Ethel Barrymore biographer Kathleen Spaltro will present a talk in the historic Ballroom/Carriage House at Linden Place.
Spaltro explores the life of Ethel Barrymore—born in 1879, sister to Lionel and John Barrymore, and once known as the “First Lady of the American Theatre.” Propelled to the stage by duty rather than desire, Ethel’s remarkable career spanned the evolution of American entertainment, from live theater to silent film, talkies, radio, and television. Spaltro tells her story with nuance and empathy, including Ethel’s marriage to Russell Colt, son of Samuel Pomeroy Colt, and her life as a devoted mother of three.
