At first glance, the works could not be more different—Ardavin’s vibrant, jewel-toned canvases pulse with theatrical presence, while Mayfield’s monochrome ink drawings trace shadows, fractures, and quiet tensions of the human spirit. Yet, when seen together, their works reveal a common thread: the act of storytelling through duality.

Like two voices in a contrapuntal score, each artist explores the dialogue between inner and outer life, dream and reality, mask and face. Ardavin’s figures, dressed in harlequin costumes and suspended between fantasy and performance, evoke a world of spectacle and ritual. Mayfield’s spectral portraits and surreal interiors, by contrast, peel back the surface to reveal the fragile, layered emotions beneath.

Placed side by side, these two languages of image echo and challenge each other: one colorful, expansive, and theatrical; the other distilled, intimate, and raw. Together, they create a space where stories unfold in parallel—sometimes converging, sometimes diverging—yet always in conversation.
