Join us at Summit Presbyterian Church (6757 Greene St, Philadelphia, PA 19119) prior to the 3rd Saturday Dance for a contra musician workshop led by Alex Fortier and Oliver Scanlon!
Prepare for the exploration of what one can do with a fiddle tune! Oliver and Alex will guide you through learning a couple of easy and delightful contra tunes. But creating music for contra dancing doesn't end there! With their years of experience playing for dances and teaching folk music, they will delve into the chordal options, tune transitions, rhythmic details, and textures that give contra music its magic.
The workshop is open to all instruments and will be taught to an intermediate to advanced level depending on the participants present.
