WHAT?:An afternoon introduction to calling contra dances presented by BEN ALLBRANDT
WHEN?:
Saturday, August 23, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. – Please arrive 10 minutes early.
(Invite your friends to come dance for us from ~4:00-6:00)
WHERE?:
West End Ballroom, (site of the Richmond Contra Dance)
2300 John Rolfe Parkway, Henrico, VA 23233.
WHO?:
YOU - the dancer, musician, or wanna-be caller. Even if you don’t plan to get behind the microphone, you’re welcome to come learn more about the caller’s job. It could even improve your dancing or dance-playing skills!
WHY?:
Why not? If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to be a dance caller, here is your chance to find out more, and give it a try.

● Some of the topics we will cover: how dance music is structured, how dances fit the music, placing calls in time to the music, the importance of the walk through, and how to choose dances to call.
● IMPORTANT: Invite your friends to come dance with us at 4:00 (no charge!!) so you can have more calling practice.
