About this Event

Contra Costa Cares – Careers in One Year Event

"Choose a career where human skills remain critical and where AI is more likely to be a tool than a replacement."

The Contra Costa Cares – Careers in One Year Event is designed to equip youth, young adults, parents, caregivers, resource parents, and foster parents with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to build successful futures.

Our goal is to create a lively, educational, memorable, and fun experience that helps reduce barriers to success and promotes pathways that can lead to a reduction in crime, homelessness, and recidivism among justice-impacted and system-impacted individuals.


Explore High-Demand Careers

Attendees will learn about career opportunities that are:

  • More resistant to AI displacement
  • Careers featured are attainable within 12 months or completion of a one - two year certification program.
  • Union-supported
  • Careers offering starting wages between $30–$50 per hour
  • Accessible with a high school diploma, apprenticeship, or certificate program

Featured career pathways include:

  • Construction & Skilled Trades Apprenticeships
  • Medical and Healthcare Careers
  • Law Enforcement
  • Fire Service Careers
  • Entrepreneurship Opportunities
  • Local Colleges and Training Programs

Free Admission Opportunities
  • Free tickets for the first 300 registered 2026 graduates and students in grades 8–12
  • Free tickets for the first 100 registered parents and caregivers

Immediately following the Contra Costa Cares event, attendees are invited to attend our FREE Back-to-School Celebration: "Fun in the Sun" at Contra Loma Estates Park.

Vendor Sponsorship Opportunity Letter

Dear Community Partner,

On behalf of Back on Track Community Services, we thank you for your past service to our community members. We invite you to become a vendor or sponsor of our upcoming Careers in One Year Event. This event is a community-focused initiative dedicated to empowering youth, young adults, parents, caregivers, foster families, and justice-impacted individuals through career exploration, education, and access to valuable resources: "Expected Attendance: 400+ youth, families, educators, employers, and community members." Many of the careers featured at this event are union-supported, offer starting wages between $30 and $50 per hour, and can be accessed through a high school diploma, apprenticeship, certificate, or specialized training programs. Free meals for all attendees and vendors: free community Back-to-School celebration immediately following the event.

Your sponsorship will help us provide free access to students, families, caregivers, and community members while supporting educational programming, meals, supplies, outreach efforts, and event operations. All attendees will receive a Souvenir Booklet with Trade Apprenticeship lists, State and Federal Employee opportunities, contact numbers and website information. for social services, AB12 facts and support information, Unions' contact information, Private and Post-secondary schools, Certificate Programs, POST information; and Colleges that teach specialized Career in One Year courses.
