About this Event

Book 7: Adjusting Your Life’s Vision

  • Jan. 6-27; Feb. 3-24, 2025
  • Mondays | 6:30-8 p.m. central time
  • In person and via Zoom.

Led by Fr. Garry Richmeier C.PP.S.

Take a journey with Trappist Monk Thomas Merton toward spiritual transformation and a more contemplative, peace-filled life. As a guide we will use Adjusting Your Life’s Vision, booklet seven in the series Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton from the Merton Institute for Contemplative Living.

You can join us even if you haven't read the earlier books. Each book stands alone.

Thomas Merton knew that the only way to change the world is by changing individual people. Adjusting Your Life's Vision helps participants adjust their visions of life to encompass constant compassion and self-giving love.

The Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton series invites users to personal spiritual transformation for the sake of a more just and peaceful world. Each eight-session booklet offers an introduction to Merton and contemplative living, prayers, readings from Merton and other spiritual writers, and questions for dialogue.

Suggested Offering Cost

$10 per session. Pay what you can. No one will be turned away. You can make an offering at the time of registration or the day you visit the Renewal Center.

We have a few books available for purchase. The cost will be $6.95 plus shared postage (about $1.50). If you buy a book from us, you will need to pick it up at the Renewal Center.

Or you can order the booklet online at https://www.avemariapress.com/products/adjusting-your-lifes-vision. We will be reading the seventh book in the series, “Adjusting Your Life's Vision.”

If you need assistance purchasing the booklet, contact the organizers at [email protected].

Thomas Merton was a monk, poet and social activist. He entered the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani in Kentucky in December 1941 at age 26 and lived there until his death in 1968.

“We are living in a world that is absolutely transparent, and God is shining through it all the time. … When we abandon ourselves to God and forget ourselves, we see it ... this is what we are for.”
— Thomas Merton
