CDP into Jam
What is Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP)?
CDP is a movement meditation practice first created and practiced by Barbara Dilley in the 1980s. She describes it as a “dancer’s meditation hall”. It is a practice of mind and body integration and how we choose to move as a result. We, as a group, observe and research, both alone and together. We “see rather than look at", with acceptance for what arises in the present moment, with no judgment.
The Structure:
Opening Circle. From 19:00
Sitting Meditation 10 minutes.
Personal Awareness Practice/Solo Authentic Movement 15 minutes.
Group Authentic Movement 20 minutes.
Open Space/ Jam until 21:15
Closing Circle from 21:15 to 21:30
Biography
Huginn is a dancer, CI Practitioner, and world traveller. His dance life started with street dance in Taiwan, then developed contemporary dance and contact improvisation in Europe, the encounter with Axis Syllabus, Parkour and martial arts also influenced his movement a lot.
“You can dance as long as you’re able to move your body.” one of his street dance teacher said, that inspired him the most. And enjoying the dance is the priority instead of thinking or creating while dancing is what he always values.
He believes DANCE is the collective memory from the ancient past, that we already have it in our body, but just forgot it along with the development of modern world. He is going to offer his perspective and tools for letting people recall their own dance in their body, from the 20th year of his dance life (2026).
