Contact Improvisation Workshop with Mark Young
October 30- November 1, 2026
This workshop will focus on the Tai Chi exercise, Push-hands. Steve Paxton referred to the three sources that Contact Improv grew from were Aikido, Tai Chi, and Vipassana meditation. We will look extensively at Push-hands and how it gave us the rolling-point-of-contact in CI. This is the road less traveled in Contact Improv. Participants can expect to work in this workshop. Come to play seriously and seriously play.

6-8pm Cultivating connection with spirals: An Aikido perspective. Alix Flavelle

10am-5pm Push-hands and spiral movement in contact improv. Mark Young
5-6pm Jam/Round robin/ Free time
Two hour lunch break each day, lunch included.
Friday dinner is provided at a suggested donation of $20. Potluck supper Saturday evening. BYOB.
Full Workshop: $180
Single Day: $30 (Oct 30) $80/day (Oct 31/Nov 1)

Accomodation on site is available. $30/night
There are a few rooms available. Four private bedrooms on a first come, first serve basis. Plus some shared space with mats on the floor. Please bring your own sleeping bag or sheets, and towel. Consider it indoor camping in that the common areas are unheated and there is one shared bathroom with shower.
Folks overnighting bring your own breakfast. You are welcome to use the kitchen in the house.
