About this Event

About the Diplomatic and Industry Circle Talk -
FDU Vancouver proudly presents the Diplomatic and Industry Circle Series, a speaker series designed to connect students with distinguished diplomats and industry professionals. These events provide a unique opportunity for students, professionals and life learners to explore pressing global issues, international relations, industry insights, and leadership perspectives directly from those shaping them.

About This Event -

This session will explore consular diplomacy as a strategic, rather than merely administrative, dimension of contemporary foreign policy. It will examine the evolution of consular functions to encompass diplomatic representation, crisis management, migration governance, and economic and cultural diplomacy.
Particular attention will be given to diaspora diplomacy, the role of consulates in engaging communities abroad. Drawing on comparative experiences, the discussion will address contemporary challenges such as digitalization, professionalization, institutional coordination, and the effective protection of vulnerable nationals.
The session will ultimately consider how modern consular services can serve as a bridge between foreign policy, human rights, and citizens abroad.

Speaker-
Dr. Ricardo Arredondo
Consul General of the Argentine Republic
