Constructing Reality

Constructing Reality is special companion program for the current exhibition A Wrench in the Gears intended to expand visitors understanding of the exhibition. Chaz Underriner is a sound artist, composer, researcher, and professor at Stetson University. Building upon the theoretical framework of the exhibition Underriner will explore how sound functions as a method of perception that influences a representation of reality. 

Through live performance and discussion, Underriner examines the complete trajectory of a sound, from its source and mediation to its perception and psychological effect, revealing how listening shapes knowledge, memory, emotion, and our experience of the world.
