Constructing Bamboo Fences and Screens
Advertisement
The bamboo fencing and screens in our Japanese Gardens model ancient techniques that artisans have practiced for hundreds of years. In this workshop, Japanese Garden Senior Horticulturist Julia Adams demonstrates different types of fence and screen making, and participants will get hands-on experience with the Yotsume-gaki method of fence making, along with traditional knot-tying techniques.
Some methods have evolved — such as using pressure-treated pine in fence posts — but Julia stays true to the original designs.
Location: Japanese Garden
Registration Required: Members: $40 | Nonmembers: $45
